Albums

Toto’s discography comprises 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.

Before Toto was formed The members of the band performed sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

Toto’s third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group’s singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group and the band held auditions to find the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with Toto.

Toto is an American rock group that was formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group of six includes guitarist/vocalist Steve Lukather, bassist David Paich and keyboardist/vocalist Steve Porcaro, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarist/vocalist Joseph Williams. During the tour, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball was arrested on drug charges. At the conclusion of the tour, the band decided to let him go and hire guitarist and singer Joseph Williams to take his place. David Hungate, the drummer, also left the group following the tour. Leland Sklar replaced him.

The TOTO Museum is a futuristic building that has several exhibit rooms devoted to telling the story of the company and its most innovative products. The museum’s exhibits include toilets, faucets, as well tableware that have contributed to the expansion of TOTO in the past half century. The museum hosts special exhibits all throughout the year.

Keyboardist Paich was regular on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto started working on the project titled Old Is New. The album featured three brand new tracks as well as several finished recordings of older songs. The album received a lot of attention across the globe and the band embarked on a tour around the world to promote the album.

Toto is famous for their hit single “Africa” The group recently reunited to promote their new album, All In. The album, which was released on November 6, 2018 included three brand new tracks from the upcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun as well as completed recordings of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass.
